Now we'll see what they're really made of!
The Redskins pulled off a sloppy opening day win over the Miami Dolphins last weekend to start the new season on the right foot. The offensive line showed definite improvement in the running game despite the huge loss of RT Jon Janson in the second quarter (he's done for the year with fractured and dislocated ankle). The running game seems much improved, and the idea of giving Betts and Portis relatively equal time on the field paid immediate dividends. The passing game needs some work, though there were certainly signs of improvement. Jason Campbell needs to keep his cannon of an arm in check on short passes (he showed incredible touch on the few long passes he threw), and the receiving corps needs to catch more than they drop. the defense also showed some improvement over last year, especially against the run. However, the secondary looked a bit sketchy, and that's troublesome.
That was against Miami. The Monday night game against the Eagles is going to be a whole other beast. The game's in Philly, and the Eagles are coming of what could only be construed as an embarrassing loss to the Packers. Philly's going to be out for blood.
The upcoming game and the one the following week against the Giants will go a long way in determining what kind of season the Skins are going to have. Two huge divisional games and an early bye week; it's time for the Skins to claw their way out of the NFC basement and smack some folks in the teeth.
It all starts with the Eagles.
HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!
